In November 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly a top aide to Donald Trump, was in the UK to deliver a speech at the Oxford Union.

The event was interrupted by numerous protesters, and Bannon, who was due to travel that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters delayed my talk don't think I can make the flight we are heading to heathrow".

Epstein replied: "That. Is a gulf air that leaves at 9:50 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "You are an amazing assistant".

These exchanges were released on Wednesday together with over 20,000 documents from the records of Epstein, the late convicted sex offender.

The release by the House oversight committee includes an iMessage chat where Bannon's identity is withheld. The BBC has been able to establish his identity by matching the dates, events, and locations referenced.

For example, Epstein discusses chartering a jet from Scotland for the redacted user in the messages, and commends their "address at Oxford". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on November 14, and delivered the talk at the Oxford two days later.

Bannon, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the inquiry.

Epstein's Assurance to Bannon

Bannon served as the president's key aides in the run up to the presidential election and in the early days of his presidency, but stepped down from the White House in August 2017.

He has admitted he was producing a documentary about Epstein before his death and allegedly has approximately 15 hours of footage. In a recording of his podcast earlier this year, he stated: "We're going to release the series, the multi-part documentary, in the coming year - at the start of next year."

But the newly released documents suggest Bannon's connection with Epstein extended than being his biographer, with the disgraced financier at times appearing to serve like a aide.

A few days prior to the conversation in which Epstein seemed to arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "what's it like to have the most highly paid travel agent in the world ".

Bannon expressed gratitude: "You are pretty good asst", to which Epstein responded "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a trip to "AD" in another message, Epstein assured Bannon: "I'll make sure you're well looked after."

British Affairs Discussed in Messages

The released communications also reveal Bannon and Epstein discussing British political matters in 2018.

On the day of his address at the Oxford, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit issue this day with Farage, Johnson and Rees Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a allusion to the UK prime minister, the struggling UK prime minister at the time, he added: "The guys are attempting to proceed. May soon…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "I think remaining as much as you can uk. Ideal- so others see the commitment of your follow through."

Shortly after, Epstein inquired: "Can Theresa May survive". Bannon answered: "It seems unlikely BUT the guys over here have no balls" and added "Boris ; Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; Davis - somebody has to step up".

Theresa May was finally removed in 2019 after withstanding multiple attempts of lack of support in late 2018.

A spokesman for the political party told media: "Nigel Farage has not been in a meeting with Steve Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Johnson." And there is no evidence such a meeting took place.

The US House of Representatives will vote next week on whether the justice department should make public all its records concerning its probe into Epstein, who passed away in jail in that year.

Interest in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was renewed recently after the publication of over 20,000 documents from his archives.

Some of those mentioned the former president, who has repeatedly rejected any wrongdoing. The leader was a friend of Epstein's for years, but says they parted ways in the early 2000s, a couple of years before Epstein was first arrested.
