The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
